The YWCA of Lethbridge and District has a strong belief in enhancing the lives of the children and families of our community. With today's constantly changing society, children have been forced to try to keep up with the pressures that surround their lives. Sometimes those pressures are beyond their coping abilites. |
Due to the rising awareness of the different issues that plague our children today, the YWCA of Lethbridge and District created a program, Project Child Recovery, for the children of our community. This program helps them express their feelings and thought around the issues of violence and abuse. Through Project Child Recovery, children learn healthy coping strategies while building a strong sense of self worth and an understanding of the things that prevent them from always being carefree.
Some of the issues that have been identified by parents and children are: abandonment, domestic violence, grief, divorce and separation. Through Project Child Recovery, the children communicate with a group of their peers that may also experiencing some of these issues.
This program is made possible through a partnership with the Foresters - Court Windy West. Project Child Recovery is a support group for children aged 6-12 years who have witnessed abuse in or out of the home. There is no fee for the program and it is offered by trained facilitators in Lethbridge, Blairmore and Fort Macleod.
This program is graciously funded by the Independent Order of Foresters - Court Windy West (see our links section). There is no charge to participants. |
