YWCA & Cheesecake Cafe Turning Point Golf Classic, annually in the summer. July 24, 2008 at the Picture Butte Golf Course. We are pleased to host a charity golf tournament with proceeds supporting programs of the YWCA. Get in the swing with the YWCA! YWCA Week Without Violence, OctoberImagine a week without violence. Now imagine a lifetime. Let's make it real! Week Without Violence is a trademark event of YWCA's around the world. It is hosted the third week of October every year with local events scheduled to promote messages of peace and education on violence in our society. Young Girl / Savvy Woman (The Power of Being a Girl), annually in October. Funding from the City of Lethbridge FCSS as well as proceeds from the Women of Distinction Awards helps support future Women of Distinction through the Young Girl/ Savvy Woman Conference. The Royal LePage Shelter Foundation Royal Gala and Silent Auction, annually in November. All funds raised are donated to YWCA Harbour House Women's Emergency Shelter to support services for women and children. The funding received through Royal LePage Shelter Foundation is instrumental in helping women and children whose lives are impacted by violence. December 6 - National Day of RemembranceThe Parliament of Canada established this day following the death of fourteen young women tragically killed December 6, 1989 at l École Polytechnique in Montreal. This day represents a time to pause and reflect on the phenomenon of violence against women in our society and think about all the women and girls who live daily with the threat of violence and those who have died as a result of deliberate acts of violence. It is also a day for communities and each one of us to reflect on concrete actions that we can take to prevent and eliminate all forms of violence against women and girls. ________________________________________________________________ |

Park Place Shopping CentrePark Place Shopping Centre finds it very important to give back to the community. For 13 years the YWCA Lethbridge and District has partnered with Park Place Shopping Centre to provide giftwrapping services during the Christmas Season. Together we host Prime Time Club the first Tuesday of every month. All proceeds support the programs and services of the YWCA. YWCA Women of Distinction, held annually in MarchSince 1975 women in Southern Alberta have been recognized through the annual Women of Distinction Awards. Awards are presented to women who have distinguished themselves through their achievements as individuals or groups, as members of their communities and as role models for other women. A new tradition of recognition commenced in 2001, The Young Women of Distinction Award which is presented to young women in southern Alberta who are role models, active members in our community and have made scholastic achievements. Proceeds from the Women of Distinction event support the Young Girl / Savvy Woman Conference (Power of Being A Girl) and YWise Women's Conference. World YWCA Day, April 24, annuallyWe celebrate our worldwide connection of over 25,000,000 members, in 23,000 communities and 122 countries with the 'Round the World Breakfast on April 24 every year as YWCAs all over the world host a breakfast event. This year we combine World YWCA Day with our annual Volunteer Recognition party. Join us for the fun and the breakfast! Funded through YWCA Women of Distinction Awards and Lethbridge Lifelong Learning, the conference focuses on women (45 years and maturing) with information on balance of mind, body and spirit. It promotes local talent and provides a venue for women to connect their hearts and bring their wisdom together. This is a YWCA signature program.
